When entering the Mausoleums adjacent to Hagia Sophia, I was surprised by the number of coffins which were gathered inside the mausoleums of Sultans, many of which were really small. Like children’s tombs. There were 42 people buried together in green cloth coffins.

I wondered had they all died together and if so why at such a young age. Had there been any plague decimating all these princes?.
