For myself as well as our tour group, there was nothing quite like relaxing on board the Gizemha. Once on shore, our group started exploring the ancient islands, littered with Byzantine ruins, mere memories of a once mighty harbour. Enjoy more Turkey travel photography (travel photos) from the Turquoise Coast.

Time flies... it's been over 6 years ago since the last time I went to Alanya and Cappadocia, Turkey. My seven day trip to Turkey was probably the most roller coaster journey ever - distinctively memorable for the unexpected experiences, sometimes unpleasant, that took me to the next level of learning by traveling. Regardless, combination of breathtaking nature and fascinating history has made them top destinations you should not miss before you die.

Istanbul has always been a focus of interest both for the  statesmen, citizens and tourists alike  since the ancient times with its well-rooted past as well as magnificient natural beauties. Who wouldn’t want to live in this city which is bustling on one side but offers a tranquil environment on the other and which one can watch like a jewel from a distance or  can get lost like a star in its luminescence depending on one’s desire?

Ebru is the Turkish art of paper-handling or marbling,  which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other stone. The patterns are the result of color floated on either plain water or a viscous solution known as size, and then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or fabric.

The oldest known Ebru was founded in the 10th century in East Asia.

For the second part of our vacation we had planned to go to Fethiye, but we checked the weather forecast last minute, and realized that rain was predicted for most of our visit, so we decided to go to Kuşadası instead.

We booked a three-night stay in Grand Blue Sky, an all-inclusive resort. It got decent reviews on TravelAdvisor, and we got a good deal on a Turkish website, so we decided why not?

I spent my last few days in Turkey along the southern coastal area called Bodrum near the Greek isles. My first night out I was completely shocked, I felt more like I was in Cancun during spring break rather than Turkey, especially the Turkey I had been exposed to so far. I went to an area called bar street, appropriately named I suppose as it is a street lined with bars and clubs with the staff stalking passers by offering free alcoholic shots or cocktails in exchange for patronage.

I glanced at my cell phone to check the time. 12:37. I still had five flights of stairs, 25 kilogramms, a long train ride and about seventy-five minutes to the airport before I could relax in an airplane headed east. As always, I had much to take care of before I left for the airport. Brunch with good friends, picking up some things to bring with me for the friend with whom I'm staying.
