If I only had to describe Istanbul in one word...

“Epic.”

Epically old, epically vibrant, epically exciting. I'm already sad that I'll have to leave next summer. I'm sure by then I'll be homesick, but, man, if this place hasn't buried itself under my skin like a new tattoo. Even when I'm having a bad time, it's only a thin sliver of boredom, hunger, hangover, fighting against quietness, frustration at finding a drink at a bar, or yesterday, when Guney and Ron “made” me run back to the dorm and my smoker's lungs rebelled hard – Or when my insomnia just wouldn't quit last night, those uncomfortable feelings were only a thin layer over my sense of abiding joy.
