I have selected a photo from each country that we visited during the Europe tour. I am hoping that each photo expresses the feel of the entire country :-) Enjoy!
Bustu vardi girerken okula.

Turkey is commemorating Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Founder of Republic of Turkey, who passed away 74 years ago. Today commemoration ceremonies are taking place throughout Turkey and in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
No one could possibly visit Turkey and not come across Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the hero of the Turkish War of Independence and the country’s first president.
Reblogged from Istanbul Yeni Harbiye Lions Club:
Today we remember our great leader and founder of modern Republic of Turkey with great appreciation and yearning.
We are happy to be members of a great nation shaped with and by his principles and revolutions.
We never forget that we owe our modern lifestyle to him and the battles he led throughout his life.
We salute you, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, with our deepest appreciation and respect.

Countdown - Sondre Lerche
HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS EXISTED UNTIL NOW? As if Sondre Lerche wasn't perfection enough already, I happened to stumble upon this greatness today, a cover of Beyonce's Countdown.
When I first heard it, I immediately thought, hey I know this song. And for some reason my first assumption was Phoenix's Countdown…

After Crete, the four of us flew to Istanbul. Fun fact- you have to buy a visa at the airport in order to enter the city, who knew?
Going to Istanbul was kind of a scary idea to me. It's in a Middle East country, has a different currency (Liras, not Euros), a language that I know nothing of, and is one of the largest cities in the world.

Honestly, I'm a little surprised with myself. How have I gone this long without including Istanbul amongst the TTP glory? Turkey has been on my wish list of places to go since I first heard its name (countries that share a name with an animal in English can do that to a girl), but I haven't made it yet. I think it's safe to say Istanbul, you've caught my eye.

Istanbul nightlife is f***ing unique.
We went out every night here - We did rowdy outdoor rock shows with mosh pits; scampered through the thousands of tiny bars and restos that spill over the narrow streets north and south of Istiklal Street, near Taksim; made out with new friends under the stars (and glowing red disco lights) atop tall roofs; and…

A tower in the middle of the sea. It's just sitting quietly. But her eyes carefully at the disposal of the ministers of the tower is actually everywhere, greetings to everyone realizes that. Does he salute in Istanbul or Istanbul salutes to her, it is not clear. Perhaps they have noticed that one of the hundreds of years ago would be incomplete without the other, keep each other greetings.

The Siege of Sarajevo was the longest siege of a capital city in the history of modern warfare. The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina was besieged by the Army of Republika Srpska from 5 April 1992 to 29 February 1996 during the Bosnian War. They assaulted the city from the surrounding hills. An estimated 12,000 civilians were killed or went missing.

Bodrum is a port city in Muğla Province, in the southwestern Aegean Region of Turkey. The city was called Halicarnassus in ancient times and was famous for housing the Mausoleum of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Another famous landmark in Bodrum is Bodrum Castle, built by the Crusaders in the 15th century. Bodrum is quite touristy.

Husband-face and I have just returned from an anniversary jaunt to Turkey, the country of his long-time dreams. I'm super glad he got to pick this year, because it turned out to be the most amazing, perfectly perfect adventure we've had to date. There's absolutely no way I could ever ever do apt justice to the awe-inspiring beauty and vibrancy and richness of the place and culture, but if these highlights can proffer even just a tiny iota of our eye-opening, life enriching, exhilarating experience, I'll be happy as a clam.

The first place in Istanbul that comes to mind when talking about “İçli Köfte”: Sabırtaşı Restaurant
In Istanbul you will never know what kind of taste you will find at the next corner. Sometimes any food that is being sold on the street might be the best food you have ever eaten. Mr. Mustafa, in a white coat offers such kind of taste on his glass-made mobile counter on İstiklal Street, which is “İçli Köfte”.

During my visit to Azerbaijan, I obviously not only enjoyed traveling and drinking tea. With the election season in Georgia over - or, some would say, in fact only just beginning - we will be increasingly dividing our attention between Georgia and Azerbaijan to follow the evolving situation in both countries: the transition of power in one of them and the run-up to the presidential elections in both.*

I'm currently in Baku, Azerbaijan for a work conference. I arrived here last night and took a stroll through a part of the city close to my hotel. I was quite surprised to see how busy the streets were and how many luxury labels have stores here. Anyway I will save my impressions for later in the week - especially since I will only have time on Saturday to do some proper sightseeing.
